The Wrath of the Devil

But woe to you, O earth and sea, for the devil has come down to you in great wrath, because he knows that his time is short!”-Rev 12: 12

A couple of weeks ago I happened to hear a speech by Tucker Carlson, an American journalist and commentator, on the occasion of the assassination attempt on former US President Donald Trump. What he said that day was deeply significant and disturbing, but undeniably true. Without mincing words, he warned the American public that its future was at stake, threatened by a powerful consortium that controlled the country’s economy and decided its course. They had no political affiliations They were anti- human and their goal was violence and destruction. They fuelled movements against human life, like transhumanism and  pro-choice which stemmed from a clear agenda to destroy life. Their affiliations were demonic, and their intent was to gain power over life and death.

Going further, Tucker revealed another vital fact about this faction. They hate Christians, and Jesus Christ was their ultimate adversary. Perhaps this was why Donald Trump, an upholder of Christian faith was targeted in the shootout.  

The prophetic undertones of this speech delivered to an American audience in Milwaukee are unmistakeable and widespread. As we fast-forward a week in time, we find ourselves at the much- awaited opening ceremony of  Olympics 2024 in the fashion capital of Paris. As the celebrations began, a global audience was treated to a performance that was intended to be a parody of Leonardo Da Vinci’s painting of the Last Supper of Jesus with His disciples. This blasphemous  display was acted out by drag queens, with a central figure, an abomination, in the place of Jesus Christ.

What message was France trying to convey to the world from this global stage? The French obviously loved it as the pageant on the Siene river threw together a bunch of extreme art forms  like the singing head of Marie Antoinette, severed from her neck, and a cultural potpourri of drag queens, nude artistes and what have you. It was into this despicable display that Jesus Christ was dragged in, represented through Vinci’s iconic painting of the Last Supper. As the world audience looked on, Christ was stripped, mocked and abused  in much the same way as it happened on that fateful Friday on Mount Calvary when His persecutors crucified Him.

 When questioned about this blatant attack against Christ and His followers, Thomas Jolly , the artistic director of the opening ceremony denied any purposeful intention, and weakly explained it away using clichés like  inclusiveness  and freedom of expression. But the writing was on the wall. The forces of evil were ready for action.

Placed in the context of Tucker’s message, the pieces of the jigsaw fit in perfectly. The Satanic regime that has laid siege over the US obviously has a global reach. They used the biggest global stage to re-enact a battle that was once fought in heaven, as Satan plotted to take God’s place—I shall climb high above the clouds, I shall rival the Most High-Isaiah 14:14. Satan and his team of angels were overthrown from heaven, but the ambition to be like God remains with him and his followers  in this world. The wokeism, sexuality and the Bacchanalian fanfare representing French thought and culture provided the golden opportunity he was looking for. What better backdrop could there be for the blasphemous rendering of the Last Supper?

Satan seems to have a carefully planned agenda to trap humans and set them up against God. The first stage was lowkey and subtle— drawing people away from God’s Word and from worship. Having achieved this distance, the rest has probably been easy. Offering them a wide platter of worldly pleasures and perversions, people have lost their connect with their Creator and have became puppets in the hands of their new master.

The second stage is now clearly visible. The ‘spiritual battle’ has begun! Tucker refers to this stage as one in which these evil forces  have taken off the mask and come to the forefront. Using the services of a completely loyal band of dissipated vassals, weakened with perversions and pleasure, Satan leads from the front in using this global opportunity to vandalise the memory of the most sacred moment in the life of Christ and His followers.

Whenever we see Holy Mass we partake in the Last Supper of Christ, as He invites everyone to partake of His Body and Blood, that which gives us eternal life. Satan knows this better than many of those who have disconnected with the True God, the Bread of Life. His final plan is to lead people away from redemption in Jesus Christ, and these incidents show how he is aggressively pursuing his ultimate goal.

John’s Gospel brings out the meaning of the Last Supper in all its essence and depth - I. am the living bread that came down from heaven; whoever eats this bread will live forever; and the bread that I will give is my flesh for the life of the world- John 6:40. The spiritual war is gaining momentum. Our most advanced societies are already under siege. The time for action has come. In the words of St Paul:

 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.  Put on the full armour of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.  For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armour of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place,  and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.  In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.  Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.-Eph 6:10-18
